The Stampede
On May 3, together with a few classmates, we participated in an obstacle course called the Stampede. The event was located about an hours drive from Perth's city center and was quite early in the morning. Before The Stampede we were all really exited after watching all the videos from the previous years which made the overall event more vibrant. As it was an obstacle course which changed every year, we did not know exactly what to expect and were quite curious as to what it was going to be like.
The morning of the Stampede, the three of us were prepared to take on the challenge, and before beginning the challenge, personally, I felt like I was aware of my strengths and weaknesses. I knew that I was always willing to take on a new challenge, yet, I did not feel very comfortable in large crowds.
The obstacle course did definitely meet my expectations as all the obstacles we had to overcome, like the stacks of hay we had to crawl over, the mud we had to run through and even run through a maze with electrical shocks, were really challenging but was thrilling at the same time. At the end of the event we even all agreed we should have done the 10km course instead of the 5km course.
With the support of my peers, I did the challenge anyways, and I think that my fear of crowds was overcome by the overall excitement of the obstacle course. No only that, but we also helped each other by working collaboratively when having to physically help one another when getting through, under or over an obstacle. The Stampede is definitely something I would love to do again in the future.

Learning Outcomes:
You have undertaken new challenges.
The Stampede is an event that I never thought of doing without the support of my friends that joined me in the challenge. It was something brand new that I was willing to take on because it looked exciting and I had a lot of motivation.
You have worked collaboratively with others.
Some obstacle courses that we had to face were very challenging such as walking through thick streams of mud or crawling over piles of tires that did require a lot of teamwork. We physically had to help each other to overcome the obstacle and we did, and we were really proud of ourselves as a unit.
You have increased your overall awareness of your personal strengths and areas requiring growth.
Before participating in The Stampede I was a bit hesitant because big crowds usually make me a bit uncomfortable and I knew that was my weakness before entering the challenge. However, with the support of my friends and the teamwork that we had, I overcame some of my fear of crowds due to the excitement of the event itself.
