Women's Perth Glory
Since last year, outside my own football competition, together with a friend, we have been volunteering at Women's Perth Glory, the women's state team of WA. To us, they are a great inspiration so it is always rewarding looking at how they play against other state teams across Australia.
Game 1
The most recent game in which we had to volunteer, we had to arrive 4 hours before kick-off, and during this period we did tasks such as prepare drinks in the changing rooms, organize the kits and putting up advertisement boards on the pitch. During the game, I was assigned to be stretcher bearer which is basically sitting on the sidelines of the pitch and in case of a injury, four of us would have to carry the injured person of the pitch using the stretcher. Although it was a rough game, luckily, there were no injures. Sadly, Perth glory did not gain points as they lost 0-3 against Brisbane Roar, but the team still played a very good game.
We had a very tight schedule to the point where we as volunteers were reading our clocks by the second. Therefore it was really important that we communicated well with our group leader and each other so that there was no confusion whatsoever. It was quite stressful at times, but it only made me gain more organization skills when I look back at the experience.

Game 2
On January 18th, 2014 there was another home game that took place at 5 pm on the last Saturday of the Christmas break. Along with the tasks that had to be done before kick-off such as organizing the jerseys and preparing the drinks in ice, I was also assigned a new job which was ticket sales. When I found out I had to do the ticket sales with a friend, I felt quite nervous knowing I had to sell tickets to over 300 people. Because I was in charge of the money and had to work the clicker, which had to be clicked every time a person entered the stadium, I had to say organized under relatively high pressure. We only worked until half time and watched the rest of the game which ended up being a win for Perth Glory with a score of 4-2.

Learning Outcomes:
You have undertaken new challenges.
Over the course of that day, this activity in particular shows that I have undertaken new challenges by stepping out of my comfort zone and working under high pressures. It was particularly stressful when big groups entered the stadium and I had to sell the tickets while clicking and was almost overwhelming at times. But I learned that with time, the job got easier and by the end I was working quite efficiently.
